Welcome to Our Company

The company was founded by David Dennis, an honors graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas, in 1980 .We started as a relatively small operation consisting of six employees. As the Austin construction market has grown, so has Dennis Steel. As a result of continuously expanding sales and operations, we relocated into our new facility at 1105 Leander Drive in Leander, Texas, in 1998. The strengths of the company are a solid management team and qualified, dependable employees with a willingness to work hard for our goal of success.

Our management team includes Bob Dennis, Business Manager, Michael Dennis, Chief Estimator and Senior Project Manager, Dennis James, Senior Detailer, Sarah Turner, our CPA and Controller, John Ransom, Fabrication Supervisor, and Bill Myers, Field Supervisor. Dennis Steel currently has 68 employees.

On our five acres in Leander, the main fabrication shop has 13,750 square feet and the attached office has 6,000 square feet. There is also a separate 3,200 square foot maintenance shop on site. The main shop is equipped with two 5 ton overhead cranes, 120-ton iron worker, 21 inch cold saw, eighteen-inch high capacity band saw, and 14 inch abrasive saw line. We fit-up at 4 fitter stations and weld out at 4 wire feed stations. The company owns one 22 ton boom truck, one 35 ton Grove hydraulic truck crane, one 50 ton Grove hydraulic truck crane, and one 80 ton Grove hydraulic truck crane. We deliver with one tractor trailer and two 42' foot trailers, one 53’ equipment trailer, two forklifts, four man-lifts, twelve service trucks, two gooseneck trailers, and two smaller trailers. We constantly add to our fleet to improve our capabilities.

We realize the importance of receiving quality shop drawings, and have recently acquired Detail and SSDCP, two computer aided detailing packages, to ensure rapid and accurate completion of shop drawings, in accord with the latest edition of AISC Design Manuals. Our rapid turnaround from contract drawings to shop drawings gives us a significant advantage in meeting our customer’s budgets and scheduling requirements.
